Assam Rifles Public School (Sports)was founded on 1st September 1980 by the great visionary Director General Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen Sushil Kumar , PVSM. On 24, September, 1980, Shri. Mukut Narayan Tankha assumed office as the founder principal. The school was formally inaugurated on 10 October, 1980 by Shri. L. P. Singh, then Governor of the North Eastern States. It has been designated as a sports school under the Khelo India Scheme on January 4, 2021.
Assam Rifles Public School (Sports) is a CBSE school with independent status. At Senior Secondary (Class XI and XII) level Science, Commerce and Humanities are offered. Its middle and secondary school classes range from VI to X. The school is run by the Assam Rifles Welfare Education Society (ARWES) registered under the Meghalaya Societies Act, 1960.
